Frequently Asked Questions

Such a big weekend ahead of us comes with a lot of questions and we're here to help!

This page is a living collection of answers to the most common questions we get about Charlottesville, the wedding, and everything in between.

Still have questions? Don't hesitate to ask us. We'll continue to add more to this page over time.

Attire

What is the dress code?

For the Welcome Party on Friday, September 5th, it is “cocktail.” It is advised to be comfortable, but polished.

We recommend dresses at the mini or midi length and slacks, khakis, or a dark wash denim.

For the Wedding on Saturday, September 6th, it is “Maximalist, End-of-Summer, Garden, Black Tie Formal.” We (Kim) intentionally chose a lot of words, to hopefully be as helpful as possible in understanding the attire.

  • Maximalist: Please feel free to be bold! This can mean colors, patterns, varying fabrics (feathers, tulle, organza, appliques etc.) and silhouettes, jewelry, and accessories.

  • End-of-Summer: Please lean more into fun summer colors and fabrics!

  • Garden: Our venue includes a lot of grass, so please take that into consideration when choosing heels (a block heel is your friend!). There will also be some areas with rock-filled pathways.

  • Black Tie Formal: We hope that men wear a black/dark colored tuxedo or a formal suit. We encourage women to wear floor-length or more formal midi-length dresses. Please avoid shorter or more casual lengths.

Kim has created a Pinterest board with inspiration photos for additional guidance.

The ceremony and reception are both outside. Please take the weather into consideration as well.

For the Farewell Brunch on Sunday, September 7th, it is “casual.” This can stem from athleisure to jeans to a sundress. We understand that most folks will be traveling afterwards, so please wear what you are most comfortable in and allows you to be able to stop by!

Immediate family and Welcome Party please find additional dress code information here.

What is typical weather for Charlottesville in early September?

This time of year, Charlottesville weather is typically mild and pleasant weather. Average daytime temperatures range from the mid-70s to low 80s, while evenings can cool down to the mid-50s to low-60s.

Where do we RSVP and when is the deadline to RSVP?

We will update this with our RSVP deadline after we send out our formal invitations in 2025. Stay tuned!

Do I need to attend all of the events?

While we’d love your presence at all the weekend’s events, outside of the Wedding, they are technically “optional.” Please be sure to RSVP to the events you’re able to attend by XYZ date.

Do I get a "plus one"?

We are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you received a plus one, their name will appear on your invitation. Thank you for understanding!

Can I bring my children?

Similarly, we unfortunately cannot accommodate any children that are not specifically named on the invitation. We hope you can use this as a parents night out!

I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What’s the best way to let you know?

Please include this information on your RSVP, we want to make sure we can accommodate you!

Where can we park at the venue?

We are still confirming parking logistics at our venue.  Please check back again soon, as we'll be sure to provide updates here and on our Travel and Lodging page.
